In tasting competitions, there are several “classes” of olive oil such as “robust” or “herb-flavored”. To receive a gold medal, the olive oil simply needs to be rated as excellent. In theory, every olive oil entered in that category could win a gold medal. However, to win “Best of Class” that olive oil must be the absolute best of all the entries in that class.
BEST OF THE BEST
After the gold medals are awarded, those olive oils compete again for Best of Class. The Sciabica Family is honored to have received THREE Best of Class awards (for Mediterranean Medly, Extreme Garlic, and Ascolano Olio Nuovo) at this year’s California State Fair! Since 1936 we have always worked hard to produce the best olive oil possible and a pat on the back always feels good.
